- DUES: MAY 1, IF A MEMBER BY JANUARY 31 OF CURRENT YEAR
- NEW MEMBER DUES: 5 MONTHS AFTER MEMBERSHIP ACCEPTANCE OR DECEMBER 15, WHICHEVER COMES FIRST
- DUES REDUCTION REQUESTS: MARCH 1 FOR REVIEW AT MARCH BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING
AOA RULE:
One-quarter of dues must be received by March 31, or you will be dropped from AOA roster (and, therefore, VOA roster). If a doctor reinstates in the same year, the O.D. must pay AOA dues for the entire year.

- Civil service dues - 50% VOA active dues = 472.27 + AOA 996.00 = 1,468.27
- Assoc member dues - 50% active dues = 472.27 VOA only
- Assoc optometric retired - 275.00 VOA dues + 100.00 AOA dues= 375.00
- Assoc optometric disabled - 275.00 VOA dues; contact VOA for AOA amount
- Dues waiver/extensions - must request in writing for Board of Trustee approval
- Dues reduction (partial practice) - must complete dues reduction form and send to VOA Office by March 1 for Board of Trustee approval at their March meeting.
DISCLOSURES: Dues, contributions or gifts to the VOA or AOA are not tax deductible as charitable contributions for income purposes. However, they may be deductible as ordinary and necessary business-related expenses subject to restrictions (federal definition of lobbying) imposed as a result of association lobbying activities. The non-deductible portion of your 2025 dues is as follows: 8.4% of your VOA dues and 12% of your AOA dues.
